Who We Serve
Our mission at Magnolia Academy is to support students who are not thriving in their current classroom or who may be thriving but looking for more. We provide them with individualized instruction in a student-centered environment that fosters dignity, academic success, and critical thinking.

Who We Serve
Our students are learners of all types, typically in grades 1-5*. We serve all children, especially those who are neurodivergent, those with learning differences, and those who otherwise may have found themselves marginalized in a traditional classroom setting. (*Please note: we are open to accepting students entering grades 6-12 on a case by case basis.)

We believe that child development doesn't start and stop at our door. If your child comes to us with adaptions or accommodations recommended by a Psychologist, a Speech, Occupational or Physical Therapist, or other medical or education professional, we will happily incorporate those into our learning program.

The instruction at Magnolia Academy is rooted in a Developmental Systems model, which considers age as one of many factors (including environment, culture, and biology) that should guide learning goals. Using compassionate, trauma-informed teaching practices, our teachers deliver content that meets state standards, but have the freedom to differentiate the curriculum and adapt their teaching and assignments to each student's needs.
Our Values
Our Foundation
Our Foundation
Students learn best when they feel that they belong. At Magnolia Academy, we encourage our students to think of themselves as valued members of our community. By promoting concepts such as agency, stewardship and responsibility and using restorative justice practices to resolve conflicts, we encourage students to understand their value as an individual who is integral to our community.
Our Frameworks

Our Frameworks
At Magnolia Academy, we employ evidenced-based teaching practices designed to effectively and compassionately optimize how our young minds learn. We also employ a learning system based on the Multi Element Behavior Supports (MEBS) framework to structure and scaffold our students' skill building, whether those skills are academic, behavior, or a mix of the two.
We Offer THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:
1:1 INSTRUCTION
PARENT EDUCATION
1:1 INSTRUCTION
Through Magnolia Learning, we offer Individualized Instruction for children who need structured 1:1 help in both academic subject areas as well as adaptive life skills.
With Magnolia Prep, we provide elementary school students with the rigorous, well-rounded education they will need for middle & high school, college, and beyond.
At Magnolia House, we've established a community for parents with resources available online in addition to hosting in-person gatherings and courses for special needs parents.
We have the flexibility and expertise to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of our students. This can include multimodal learning supports for students with dyslexia, Gestalt-based language curricula for Autistic students, visual supporters for English Language Learners or integrating AAC devices to assist our nonverbal students.
Student-Centered Instruction
All of our instructors are trained in techniques designed to build rapport and trust with each student, engage them as partners in their own learning, and guide them to independence and mastery. Our students should leave each session with not only more knowledge and skills but also more self-confidence.
A Sensory Friendly Environment
We believe that all children benefit from a calm and controlled sensory environment where supports such as visual aids and sound cues are built in but not overstimulating or distracting.
A Value-Driven Approach
Magnolia Academy is part of the non-profit Better Minds Inc. that values education and dignity for all. Our goal is to make a difference, not a profit.
