Our mission at Magnolia Academy is to welcome students who are not thriving in their current classroom or who may be thriving but looking for more. We provide them with an individualized education in a student-centered environment that fosters community, academic success, and critical thinking. We currently serve students in grades 2-4 but will be expanding every year with plans to eventually accommodate students in grades 1-12.

Who We Serve
Our Mission
With our small class size (our student-teacher ratio will cap at 12:1) and mastery-based approach, your child will gain essential skills in reading, mathematics, and writing (what we call "ideation & expression"). We believe these are foundational skills that all young minds deserve to learn so that they may become better scholars and citizens.
Who We Serve
Who We Serve
Who We Serve
Our students are learners of all types who would typically be entering grades 2-4 (expanding yearly) in their home school. We serve all children, especially those who are neurodiverse or have neurodivergent siblings, those with learning differences, and those who otherwise may have found themselves marginalized in a traditional classroom setting. All are welcome here.

The instruction at Magnolia Academy is rooted in a Developmental Systems model, which considers age as one of many factors (including environment, culture, and biology) that should guide learning goals. Using compassionate, trauma-informed teaching practices, our teachers deliver content that meets the California Content Standards, but have the freedom to differentiate the curriculum and adapt their teaching and assignments to each student's needs.

Students learn best when they feel that they belong. At Magnolia Academy, we encourage our students to think of themselves as valued members of our community. By grouping students in mixed age cohorts, promoting concepts such as agency, stewardship and responsibility, and using restorative justice practices to resolve conflicts, we encourage students to understand their value as an individual who is integral to our community.
Our Frameworks
Our Curriculum
Our Frameworks
At Magnolia Academy, we employ evidenced-based teaching practices designed to effectively and compassionately optimize how our young minds learn. We also implement a system based on the Multi Element Behavior Supports (MEBS) framework to structure and scaffold our students' skill building, whether those skills are academic, behavior, or a mix of the two.
With the right supports, every child can learn.
What Makes Magnolia Academy Different
Small Class Size
Your child isn't a number. Classes have a maximum size of 12 students per teacher so your child is never left out.
Rigorous Standards, a Flexible Approach
We follow the California State Content Standards, but as a private school we have the flexiblity and know-how to adapt lessons and assignments to meet the needs and interests of our students.
An Inclusive Curriculum
We believe that inclusion must be taught, and we both model inclusion and teach it explicitly with lessons on topics like perspective-taking, calling in, and advocacy.
Mastery-based Learning
Students are grouped according to the skills they need to acquire, and raise those goals as they gain competency. By mixing students of different ages and maturity, we aim to give students opportunities to make connections with and learn from a variety of peers.
A Sensory Friendly Environment
We believe that all children benefit from a calm and controlled sensory environment where supports such as visual aids and sound cues are built in but not overstimulating or distracting.
Value Driven
Magnolia Academy is part of a non-profit organization that values education and dignity for all. We are here to make a difference, not a profit.
OUR GOALS
At Magnolia Academy, we believe that your child should have options. Whether enrolling in a selective four-year university, attending a local community college, or studying at a trade school, our students should have choices for their futures.
